Celebrating Africa's Giants: RHINOCEROs

The rhinoceros is critically endangered, and the fate of wild rhinos ultimately falls to people. The guiding purpose of this project is to create awareness and inspire conservation action through Environmental Education for kids in Tanzania and America.
We developed rhinoceros-themed activities and high-quality, creative materials that meet educational needs and promote biodiversity conservation. We provide educators with training on how to develop and implement innovative, effective conservation-oriented teaching strategies. Our materials are ideal for educators at zoos and schools in America and Europe as part of giraffe/elephant/rhino days, school visits, and zoo camps.

We developed the following materials:
(1) Children’s storybook (Helping Brother Rhinoceros)
When Brother Rhinoceros gets stuck in the mud, his friend Mr. Oxpecker brings back different animals to help. They all have a unique skill, but on their own none can help Brother Rhinoceros out of the mud. When they work together as a team, each contributing his or her own special skill, they are able to save Brother Rhinoceros. Through Kayla Harren’s captivating illustrations, children will learn the importance of teamwork while valuing their own special talents.
